Project Description
Some of the most dangerous defects are the ones you barely see—hairline cracks, micro-porosity, and surface-breaking flaws that quietly grow under pressure and vibration. VAIC’s Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) is a high-sensitivity inspection service that brings hidden surface defects to light—helping you avoid rework, reduce failure risk and protect performance in safety-critical applications.
It’s a smart choice when you need clear evidence of surface integrity, backed by certified inspection expertise and a strong QHSE-first approach.
Inspection technique
PT uses a specially formulated penetrant liquid that flows into surface-breaking discontinuities. After a controlled dwell time, excess penetrant is removed and a developer is applied to draw penetrant out of defects—creating visible, high-contrast indications.
VAIC applies PT with strict control of preparation, dwell timing, cleaning, developer application, and interpretation. This ensures your results are reliable, consistent, and well documented. For complex access points, we can also support inspection using professional visual aids (including remote visual solutions where relevant).
Applications
PT is commonly used for:
Stainless steel and non-ferrous components (where MPI is not applicable)
Weld surface inspection (cracks, porosity, laps)
Machined parts and fabricated components
Pressure equipment attachments and critical zones
Post-repair validation after grinding and rework
Quality control in fabrication and maintenance
